ABOUT US

Our story

Rasee Rescue began the way most rescues do, with dogs we could not walk past. In Vavuniya, street dogs are part of daily life. Most are gentle. Many are hungry, sick, or hurt, and almost none have ever known a safe place to sleep.

So we started feeding. Then treating. Then sheltering. Today, Rasee Rescue is the street dog rescue and caring initiative of Raseena International (Pvt) Ltd, a registered company (Reg. No. PV 00324086) based on Arasadi Road, Maharambaikulam, Vavuniya.

We are not a large organisation, and we don't pretend to be. We are local people doing steady, honest work for the dogs of our town, and further away too, when someone calls and we are able to go. We welcome anyone who wants to be part of it.

"Every dog we care for was once invisible to everyone. Our work is to make sure they are seen, fed, healed, and finally, loved."

WHAT GUIDES US

Three things we hold onto

Compassion first
Every decision starts with one question: what does this dog need? Not what is convenient, what is kind.
Local & hands-on
We live here. We know these streets and these dogs. Our care is daily and personal, not remote.
Open & honest
We are clear about what we can and cannot do, and about how support is used. Trust is earned slowly, and we intend to earn it.
HOW WE WORK

A simple day, repeated with love

Nothing about our work is glamorous, and that's exactly the point. Care is a routine you keep, every single day.

1
Morning feeding
Fresh food and water for every dog at the shelter, the calmest, happiest part of the day.
2
Health checks & treatment
Wounds cleaned, medicine given, and unwell dogs watched closely with veterinary support.
3
Care, cleaning & time together
Clean spaces, gentle handling, and play, how a frightened street dog slowly learns to trust.
4
Street rounds
Food and water for dogs still on the streets, and a lookout for any who need urgent help.
